BONN, Germany — Organized by the United Nations SDG Action Campaign with the support of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the German Federal Foreign Office and partners, the SDG Global Festival of Action took place from 2nd to 4th May 2019.

“The Festival’s overall aim is to gather and inspire SDGs campaigners and multi-stakeholder partners to scale up and broaden the global movement to take action for the SDGs,” the website states.

The annual event provides an interactive platform that enables SDG advocates to exchange ideas in order to develop new projects that lead to SDG-oriented actions with innovative solutions.

SDG Global FestivalThis year’s event united over 1,500 participants from over 150 countries who all shared one common goal: to make the Sustainable Development Goals a reality.

The conference offered different spaces for workshops, panel discussions, mixed reality presentations, organisation-led sessions and finally, further stakeholder information which was shared in situ with participants as well as with the general public via live streaming.

Aiming to raise awareness for ISLAND EARTH, the Global Island Partnership (GLISPA) intends to work closely with its members and leaders to showcase island examples and solutions at next year’s edition of the festival.
