GLISPA Affiliate Member Coral Vita invite to the Grand Opening Ceremony in Freeport, Grand Bahama on May 31st, 2019…
Coral Vita's Grand Bahama coral farm is nearing its end of construction: the Grand Opening ceremony will take place in Freeport on Friday May 31st, 2019.
With the launch of this world’s first land-based commercial coral farm for reef restoration, Coral Vita contributes to the global effort to preserve coral reefs.
“Over half of the world’s reefs are dead, and we are currently on track to lose over 90% by 2050. With coral reefs serving as the lifeblood for countless coastal communities and a quarter of all marine life, the threat of worldwide reef degradation is one of the gravest challenges we face today, ” Coral Vita’s invitation reads.
Whilst corals are grown for restoration, the flagship farm will also serve as a revenue-generating eco-tourism attraction and a hands-on marine learning center for local students and community members.
Following the completion of the pilot farm, Coral Vita looks to expand operations globally and establish large-scale coral farms in every country and territory with reefs to preserve these threatened ecosystems.
