The briefing focused on discussion of the concept of Debt Swaps as a tool for financing climate change adaptation activities in SIDS. The briefing provided opportunity for representatives from the Caribbean, Pacific and Western Indian Ocean to: (i) hear from Belize’s experience with a similar Debt for Nature Swap; (ii) discuss how debt swaps could contribute to a blue economy and (iii) learn about opportunities to showcase success stories from SIDS, and make commitments within the context of the “green/blue economy” theme of Rio+20.
